London Trip
|
|
Be worry, coz this Roman Statue is ALIVE.....
Azlin admiring art at Covent Garden. It's a preserved flowers laminated on a tile. This art was beautifully made by Ms. Sally, a Malaysian artist based in London.
It was fantastic, we didn't know ofthis event. We were walking from Covent Garden and there it was West End performing outdoor . Shows from STOMP, West End Kids, CHICAGO, MAMMA MIA, FAME... ect... each performing 20 minutes at least. We received goddie bags too.
At last we found a new talent for the latest West End Production....

Punting at Cambridge River
|
|
I'm trying my best to punt but from the looks of it, I'm more into jousting...
Excerpts from Wikipedia on Punting...
A punt is a flat-bottomed boat with a square-cut bow, designed for use in small rivers or other shallow water. Punting refers to boating in a punt. The punter generally propels the punt by pushing against the river bed with a pole.
Punts were originally built as cargo boats or platforms for fowling and angling but in modern times their use is almost exclusively confined to pleasure trips on the rivers in the university towns of Oxford and Cambridge in England and races at a few summer regattas on the Thames.
Wagamama, we just had to come here again. The food & service was good... we had lunch here with Ting (Azlin's friend ) an ex-Oxonian too....
..seems that the boys from St. John's Choir was on their way for practice, stopped to wave at us

So yummy, Cinnamon Rolls with cream cheese....
..or without Cream Cheese, it's so yummy....
Wow, it never occured to me that some day I could make my own Cinnamon Rolls. I got this recipe from zairul.fotopages.com & mamafami.fotopages.com . It's very simple to make & it tasted just like Cinnamon rolls from Cinnabon franchise.

An Intoduction to Kaya a Malay Jam....
|
|
Kaya buns....so tasty..
Jonathan willing to be a part time Kaya model... kikikik...
Making sure it's the rite density for Kaya....
Some excerpt from Wikipedia on Kaya ....
Kaya ( also srikaya, means "rich" in Malay based on its golden color) is a jam made from coconut milk, duck or chicken eggs which are flavored by pandan leaf and sweetened with sugar. The spread originated in Southeast Asia, most likely Indonesia or Malaysia. This is reflected by its tropical ingredients santan and pandan leaf. Kaya is sweet and creamy, available as a golden brown or green colored spread depending on the amount of pandan and extent of carmelization of the sugar. As with other jams, kaya is typically spread on toast and eaten in the morning but is enjoyed throughout the day.

Mountain Biking at Thetford Forest, Norfolk, UK
|
|
It's Mountain Biking Day for me at Thetford Forest, Norfolk.
Train from Cambridge to Brandon. We(me & my GIANT MTB) boarded the train.
FYI, Thetford Forest is a patchwork of pines, heathland and broadleaves providing the ideal setting for a day out, and a welcome refuge for a rich variety of animal and plant life. It's not the sort of Rain Forest you could find in Malaysia. I believe it's a man made forest. I encountered some dead squirels on the road to Thetford Forest and loads of them in the forest. Here's a picture of it -
How to get there:
Thetford Forest Park is located on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk in the heart of Breckland in East Anglia. Major roads leading to Thetford Forest Park are the M11 from London, the A11 from Norwich or Newmarket and the A14 from Cambridge or Ipswich.
Ordnance Survey Explorer 229 - Thetford Forest in the Brecks
Got into a train from Cambridge Station & headed to Brandon, Norwich. Here's the train schedule from www.trainline.com. ETD would be 10.38 and ETA 11.18am .

Getting ready to enter the BLACK TRAIL:-S
The MTB route that I took. The Black Trail....
Black Mountain Bike Route
The Black Mountain Bike Route is for more experienced riders. The black route was the original way-marked singletrack loop for the more serious cyclist and offers some excellent sections including the famous 'Beast of the East' descent. The trails are narrow with varied surfaces, as well as steep rises and descents.
Higher levels of skill and experience are required with a high level of endurance fitness. This route is not suitable for children under fourteen years old.
Location: High Lodge
Length: 10 miles / 16 km
Approximate ride time: 1 - 2 hours depending on the rider's speed and level of fitness
Safe and Responsible Cycling: Riders are strongly advised to wear cycling helmets while cycling
Open or closed: open
